A family photography session is a wonderful way to celebrate a family member’s birthday, a special anniversary, a son or daughter’s graduation, a family get together, for Mum on Mother’s Day, or just something fun to do as a family.
A family portrait is a great excuse for the women in the family to have a little pampering by our professional hair and makeup artists. It could make the perfect present for Mum for her birthday, Mother’s Day or special occasion. Having a family photo shoot with three or even four generations is also very meaningful and creates a precious gift for the whole family. You don’t know how long you will have each other, so capture forever this moment in time.
The photo shoot is available at Sumico Photography studio in Main Beach on the Gold Coast or many families enjoy having their photo shoot at various outdoor locations. Close to the studio are cafes and parks and the stunning Main Beach is just a couple of blocks away. You can combine studio portraits in more ‘dressy’ clothes with natural outdoor shots in your casual gear then head to the beach for some fun shots. The choice is yours. We even have a studio wardrobe for little girls, teenager girls, mother and grandmother to dress up in!

Pre Photo Shoot Consultation
The first step is to book your pre photo shoot consultation.
You can have this online or at Sumico Photography Studio on the Gold Coast. At the consultation we find out your ideas, how you want your family to be photographed and make plans for the perfect photo shoot. We discuss any hair and makeup requirements, what to wear and what to bring. Remember you can change into multiple outfits – some dressed up, some casual, depending on the type of photos you would like. We also discuss pricing and products and cover any questions you may have.
Photo Shoot Day
On the day of the photo shoot, you’ll arrive at the studio together. The women who are having the makeover will have freshly washed dry hair and no makeup on. Our professional hair and makeup artist will transform them to bring out their beautiful best. While this is happening, the men might like to head to one of the local cafes!
Then it’s all together again in the studio or outside location (or both) for up to two hours guided photo shoot with Sumiko Eyears. It’s normal to feel a little anxious or nervous at the thought of posing for the camera. Sumiko has been working with families for many years and knows how to get you to relax and will soon have you laughing and enjoying the photo shoot. That’s how she captures the most amazing photos of you and your family at your natural, happy best.
Reviewing Session
Within two weeks of your family photo shoot, Sumiko will be in touch to arrange a time and place to review your professionally edited photos. This can be done back at the Gold Coast studio or online through a video call where she will share her screen and go through your beautiful family images with you. This is the best part – choosing which photos you love the most and would like to order. You can choose a print package collection, digital package including video or a wall art collection. You don’t have to decide until the reviewing session and there’s no minimum purchase required

Initially, I decided to take part in Sumiko’s 50 over 50, because I had been to her launch for the previous one and had seen how beautiful her photo’s of the women were. I heard some of them speak at the launch event and how it had changed the way they saw themselves (through the lens of Sumi’s camera), hence changed their confidence and sense of self-worth. When I saw how she portrayed their individual personality and beauty I realised that Sumi had a special gift, that changed peoples lives!
Not only did Sumi take photos of me for her 50 over 50 project, she also offered to use the photoshoot to provide branding photo’s for my business. I am delighted with the outcome. 50 over 50 project participantI took part in Sumiko’s 50 over 50 project partly as I needed new head-shots for by Acting and Marriage Celebrancy businesses and partly because I thought it was a very interesting and inspiring project.
We had a preliminary meeting where I took what seemed to me almost my whole wardrobe to select 5 different looks.
On the day of the photo-shoot we went over the allotted 3 hours, partly because I had bought an extra gown that Sumiko said she would love to capture me in, but I never felt rushed.
Prior to the photo-shoot I had my hair and make up done by a professional make up artist and started to feel very glamorous.
I felt relaxed and at ease throughout the photo-shoot and had a great time chatting and being directed to pose.
I think we had a fun morning together, I know I did.
And, the photos were AMAZING. I had so many compliments that it has made me accept myself as others see me and graciously accept the compliments which resulted from the magic of the team of Sumico Photography, Ann Ricketts and Rita’s Makeup Artistry
